Senior Engineer - Installation

LOCATION: SunFarmer Nepal Head Office, Sankhamul, Kathmandu. Extensive travel to project sites expected.

ABOUT SUNFARMER: SunFarmer Nepal Pvt. Ltd. builds world-class solar energy systems for hospitals, schools, businesses, and farms in Nepal. We specialize in introducing innovative solar technology and business models in Nepal; we pride ourselves on doing what has never been accomplished before! Since January 2014, we have completed over 150 solar energy projects in Nepal.

SunFarmer Nepal has a small team that consists of some of the leading solar engineers in Nepal. We are motivated by our desire to bring clean, reliable energy to Nepal. Our office is fast-paced and high performing, but we also like to have fun together.

SunFarmer’s head office is in New York, USA and was started by experienced solar energy experts that have led over $1 billion USD in solar energy installations. We have connections to leading solar energy companies around the world, and our plan is to eventually replicate our work in Nepal in other developing countries.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

We are currently looking for a Senior Engineer to lead project implementation. The candidate will perform a variety of roles to support SunFarmer’s solar projects and will report to the Operations Manager of SunFarmer Nepal Head office in Kathmandu.

Responsibilities Include:

Construction Document:

  • Verify system designs for solar projects and prepare complete a bill of quantity, and develop detailed construction document.

  • Prepare high-quality engineering drawings using appropriate engineering software (Solidworks/Google Sketchup/AutoCAD/Edraw Max) that includes:

  • Site layout

  • Full construction drawing

  • Single line diagrams

  • And others drawings as required by the projects

  • Co-ordinate with the design team to get all electrical engineering drawings done.

Installation, Monitoring, and Commissioning:

  • Conduct technical site survey of solar systems as per project application and scope.

  • Quality assurance & pre-dispatch inspections of the electrical goods.

  • Lead implementation team and provide technical direction or support to installation teams during installation, start-up, testing, system commissioning, or performance monitoring

  • Verify commissioning reports and prepare the project completion report.

  • Analyze the performance of the system after commissioning against the system design

  • Adopt best practices for Solar installations in the world to improve the quality of the installation.

Project Management:

  • Coordinate with clients, installation team, design teams to plan project implementation.

  • Responsible for complete project management through the installation, testing, and commissioning of the system.

  • Plan international and domestic procurement necessary for installation & Commissioning of the projects.

  • Maintain engineering records, lists, and reports as required to ensure compliance with the client’s schedule, adherence to the budget, adherence to procurement specification, or to ensure engineering problems are monitored and resolved.

 Research & Design:

  • SunFarmer will be conducting in-house testing of various equipment and constantly looking for new technologies. The senior engineer will be responsible for carrying out these tests, collecting data and generating a report with analysis.

  • Develop standard operation procedures and quality or safety standards for solar installation work.

  • Improve the templates for standardization of project implementation and develop plug-play systems.

 After Sales Support:

  • Lead after-sales support team and provide support in after-sales technical issues. Prepare a report of actions taken.

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues and work with equipment manufacturer for remote support.

  • Ensure the performance of the systems are as per design, and the performance are monitored regularly.

EDUCATION:

The person shall hold at least a Master’s degree in a technical background from a leading university, and have excellent networking, communication and presentation skills.

REQUIREMENT:

  • Must have 2-year experience in solar engineering field (engineering drawings in AutoCAD/Solid works etc.)

  • Strong interpersonal skills.

  • Hard working with a strong work ethics.

  • Basic concept in technical field.

OTHER REQUIREMENT:

  • Must have both writing skills, and outstanding interpersonal skills

  • 2-wheeler with license

  • Willingness to travel and work in the field.
