Avishek Malla

Chief Executive Officer

Avishek Malla is a clean energy entrepreneur with over 12 years of experience.  His experience includes various roles within the private sector, government, non-government, and academia. He has worked in developing policies, standards, managing programs, and financial closure in government renewable energy programs budgeted over $300 M. 

 Under his leadership, SunFarmer has been a pioneer in the development of solar photovoltaic (PV) Nepal, introducing “Rent to Own” solar energy services in rural health, education, and agriculture winning several National and International awards and implementing solar PV rooftop net-metered systems. 

Avishek has led the feasibility study of over 500MWp Solar PV utility project, financial closure of multiple rural village electrification projects over 5 MW, introduced innovative financing for solar technology and implementation of the first rooftop grid-tied system. He has also been involved in developing the national solar PV technical standards and solar subsidy policy delivery mechanism and has authored several solar PV related papers and publications. 

 He holds a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Diploma in Management from Kathmandu University, Postgraduate Diploma in Energy and Environment, and Master’s degree in Renewable Energy from Murdoch University, Australia. He has been awarded with “Mahendra Vidhya Bhusan” gold medal for academic excellence and is the former Australian Endeavour Awards Ambassador.
